Dove Wine Jug
- Birds are very important in Nuosu culture—from the noble eagle
soaring high above the mountain valleys to the lowly chicken
scratching in the courtyard. This is a wine jug (wine is poured
in through a small hole in the bird’s belly, then out again
through its beak) that is probably modeled after the doves that
live in the Liangshan mountains. |

Rooster Wine Jug
& Goblet Set - Being a good host is very important to the Nuosu, and a key
element of that is serving your guest wine. This little wine set
(which would be perfect as a toy) has 4 goblets, a tray, and a
wine jug shaped like a chicken. |

Traditional Wine
Set - Large
- A classic wine set, found in homes throughout the
Nuosu homeland. The wine jug holds just enough alcohol to fill
the four goblets, so that a toast to hospitality and good health
can be made. Like all Nuosu wine jugs, the liquid is poured in
through a hole in the bottom, and out through the tube/spout on
the side. Your friends will try and try to open the ‘lid’, but
you’ll know the secret! |

- Another classic wine set, medium-sized. Note the delicate
cross-hatching of red on the goblets. Functional, and beautiful. |

inches high, with black interiors. |

Lacquered bowl
- These lacquerware bowls painted in the traditional Nuosu
colors would be great for candy or nuts, or even on the bedroom
bureau spare change and pocket detritus. Also nice in the
bathroom for hair clips or cotton balls.

Nuosu would use these to spoon soup out of the large communal
bowls at the table. |

- Nuosu art lends itself to modern, as well as

lacquered hairbrush! It also includes a loofah and a pumice
